Speaker of Plateau State House of Assembly, Abok Nuhu Ayuba has condemned in the strongest terms the deplorable attack in Chando Zerreci, Miango Community of Bassa Local Government in Plateau State.
The attack had resulted in the death of 10 persons, with 19 suffering from various degrees of injuries.
Abok said, “Again, yesterday our Miango brothers lost ten of their dedicated indigents to a brutal attack by terrorists which also left nineteen injured persons.
“The cowardly attack targeted the celebration of the Irigwe Annual Farming Season Festival ‘Zerreci’ in expectation of the first rain, brought also immense grief to the bereaved families, Miango Community, Plateau State and the entire nation.”
“And as we mourn for our lost ones, I want those who committed this atrocity to know that no force can prevail against the children of God no matter how formidable. The Plateau man had endured for long and cannot be destroyed nor intimidated.”Read Also
The Speaker expressed his deepest sympathy and condolence to the families of the victims, wishing a speedy recovery to those who were injured while emphasizing that the role of the State Assembly regarding security is constitutionally limited hence, the recent frowning of States Assembly Speakers on the exclusion of the state policing clause by the National Assembly.
He also charged security forces on the ground with the need to apprehend and arrest the perpetrators, organizers, financiers and sponsors of these reprehensible acts of terrorism to account and bring them to justice. He urged all stakeholders, by their obligations to Nigeria to cooperate actively with all relevant security formations in place, in this regard.
He again reiterated that any act of terrorism is criminal and unjustifiable, regardless of its reasons or motivation, wherever, whenever, and by whoever committed it.
He reaffirmed that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations constitutes one of the most serious threats to the growth of peace and unity and political and socio-economic development of Nigeria which affects all, but only the terrorists, negatively.
